Beef and Tomato Noodles

This is basically a tarted up pot noodle! You can use any meat, and quick-cook spaghetti instead of noodles, but you'll need a bit more water and a slightly longer cooking time; fine noodles need less water and time.

Essential ingredients

  • 1 large frying steak
  • 1 tin tomatoes
  • 250g medium noodles
  • 1½ cups water

Optional ingredients

  • A little oil
  • 1 onion - chopped
  • 1 pepper - chopped
  • Some mushrooms
  • 1 stock cube
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • Some herbs
  • Salt and pepper

Method

Cut the steak into thin strips and fry until brown. Add the onion and fry for a few more minutes. Add the spice and fry for a further minute, stirring constantly. Add the tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms and water and crumble in the stock cube. Bring to the boil, then add the noodles and simmer until the excess water has gone and the noodles are cooked (about 10 mins). Add herbs, season and serve.
