Suitable for vegans
Choose medium sized potatoes, because huge ones take too long.
- Some potatoes
- Cooking foil
- A filling of your choice
Wrap each potato in foil and place around the edge of the fire. Make sure they don't touch any burning wood or they will char. Turn them every so often and after an hour or so they'll be done. To test, press on the side of the potato - if it yields to gentle pressure and makes a permanent dent then it's done.
You can use exactly the same method for baked parsnips, which take roughly the same amount of time, or for carrots or sweet potatoes, which take about half the time.
